We designed and built the new website to create an up-to-date, easy to use site that is intuitive and welcoming. The target audiences for the site are a diverse range of potential adult learners –some of whom do not have English as their first language and many of whom have experienced barriers to education in the past.
It was therefore important to design the site in a way that the key messaging could be easily understood; not too wordy or dense, but bite sized and using a sans serif font that was ‘dyslexic friendly’. Strong use of images; infographics, colour coding and clear signposting was also a key priority to help navigate the site.
The site features an online application form for all courses - previously not available - making applying to the college easier to do for the student and less time consuming for the college administrators to process.
Ruskin has a rich and unique history and they are celebrating their 120 year anniversary this year - so a key inclusion of the site was their history page featuring a timeline. The site also hosts the #Ruskin120 theme for this year’s celebrations which is 120 stories and celebrates the College’s past with interesting and inspiring stories from their many and varied alumni.
